FAQ about CBD

How should I apply Hit! Balm?

Apply Hit! Balm to the muscle(s) or joint(s) where you're feeling pain, in a sufficient amount that the target area is covered with a thin layer, and rub it in. Because of the unique blend of oils in Hit! Balm, you'll find that it does a great job of penetrating and doesn't leave a greasy feeling to the skin. You should feel relief within minutes, and it should last for hours. Reapply as needed to keep pain on the run; there's no risk of ODing on Hit! Balm!

How is the CBD in Hit! Balm grown and processed?

Hit! Balm only sources the plants in our extract from farms using organic growing methods and are on the path to becoming certified. We have a relationship with a single farm in Colorado where we have conducted on-site audits to ensure the highest quality product, and our extracts are tested both at source and when they arrive in our facilities. Zero pesticides or fungicides, just pure Colorado grown hemp-based CBD, with the full entourage effect of multiple cannabinoids including CBn and CBg.

How is it extracted?

Our hemp is extracted via a food grade, low-temperature ethanol process. This extraction method provides a complete, high-quality extract rich in the full suite of plant compounds. The low boiling point of ethanol allows for its complete removal from the final distillate oil so there are no residues remaining–just pure, organically-grown hemp extract.

How is it tested?

All batches are uniquely identified with trace back to Certificates of Analysis (COA) for potency and potential contaminants from an independent licensed testing facility. All COAs can be accessed via HitBalm.com, and by scanning the QR code found on the label of your product.

Are the bees that produce the beeswax in Hit! Balm harmed in the process?

The farms that provide our beeswax depend on their hives to pollinate non-sprayed crops, and they take care to ensure the bees’ survival. We also source wax from a non-profit hive rescue organization in Los Angeles called Save My Bees, who retrieves hives from homes and businesses whose queens have taken up residence in trees, walls and attics. Rather than being exterminated, these hives are saved to be lent to farms to pollinate their fruit trees and flowering crops.

Why do you use full-spectrum hemp distillate rather than isolate?

‘Isolate’ removes all other compounds from the hemp extract, while distillate retains the other beneficial compounds and terpenes that also provide benefits. This is often referred to as the ‘Entourage effect’ and we feel it makes a big difference in Hit! Balm’s efficacy.

Do your products contain THC?

Hit! Balm’s products are entirely hemp-based and contain less than 0.3% THC, which allows them to be sold legally under the 2018 Farm Bill. Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for all products are available on HitBalm.com

What extraction process do you use for your distillate?

Hit! Balm’s distillate is extracted using an ethanol (alcohol) method, which keeps it free from residual solvents like butane or CO2.

How much oil does the Hit! Drops dropper hold?

Hit! Drops droppers are ‘graduated’ with measurement lines printed onto them for proper dosing. A ‘full’ dropper contains 1ml of Hit! Drops (34mg), while a typical dose is half of that, 0.5ml (17mg).

What dosage of Hit! Drops is right for me?

The typical method of finding the right dosage is to start off with a miniscule amount. For instance, users might start off with 5mg dosage for the first week. If the user experiences no change, they might increase to 10mg, and continue increasing it bit by bit until they find it subjectively effective and consistent in providing possible relief. A typical dosage is 17mg/0.5ml.

What is ‘Hit Medicine’?

The Hit! in Hit! Balm comes from an ancient combination of Chinese herbs known as a dit da jow, which loosely translates to ‘hit (impact) medicinal wine’. These formulas were used by martial artists and herbalist/acupuncturists to treat the various sprains, strains and contusions caused by mild to moderate traumatic injuries. Our version of Hit Medicine forms the backbone of Hit! Balm and is one of the things that makes it one of the best relief balms in the world. Interested in learning more? Do Hit! Balm products have a ‘best by’ date?

Each Hit! Balm product is best used within two years of purchase if stored out of sunlight and away from sources of heat. You’ll find batch numbers on small stickers applied to the bottle or tin of your Hit! Balm product.

How should I store my Hit! Drops?

Hit! Drops don’t need to be refrigerated, but if you prefer to take it when it is chilled you can store it in the fridge without impacting the product. We recommend storing your Hit! Drops anywhere that the bottle isn't exposed to constant light and or heat. For further inquiries please contact our Customer Care team at hello@hitbalm.com, or call Customer Care at 1-310-570-2789.

How much Hit! Balm should I apply to the affected area?

The amount of Hit! Balm that should be applied to the affected area depends on the body part(s) in question. A knee, for example, could take an amount about the size of a nickel, while a wrist would take a dime sized application. If more relief is desired, simply apply more, though not more than can be absorbed into the skin after 30 seconds of being rubbed into the area. There are no hard-and-fast rules regarding the proper amount of Hit! Balm to use, so experiment to see the right dosage that works for you.

Will Hit! Balm or Hit! Drops cause me to fail a drug test?

Much like the consumption of poppy seeds may lead to a positive drug test for opioids, the consumption of certain hemp products may lead to a positive drug test for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is inherently present in trace amounts in hemp plants. The legal limit of THC in hemp is no more than 0.3%. Furthermore, the underlying science behind the conversion of certain cannabinoids, for example cannabidiol (CBD), when consumed, to other related cannabinoids, for example THC, is not yet fully understood. Although the risk is low, individual biochemistry, the possibility of conversion of cannabinoids and the possibility of trace, but legal, amounts of THC inherent in hemp products, we strongly suggest consulting your health care provider and HR manager before consuming any hemp products if you are subject to drug testing.
